god created mankind in his image. we were meant to image him - and yet, consistently we image other things. the story in the beginning of genesis is one where we choose to image self…or nature…or knowledge…or independence? you pick. depending on who reads the story may depend on how you understand the story.
how can we help ourselves to follow god rather than fall prey to the fruit? perhaps fruit is actually the solution and not the problem. in galatians we learn about something called the fruit of the spirit - “against these there is no law.” but, they are contrasted with another list…of rotten fruit. Maybe these two lists can give us helpful guardrails to imaging the creator rather than the created.
